Goldie Poblador

Using the body, controlled sets, and strategically placed props, I am interested in creating situations for interaction between the viewers and myself during the performance. It references film as a medium to create nostalgia and embody a sense of being from a lost history that may often be viewed as archaic or displaced. This body of work makes use of the camera, 16 mm projection, glass and mirrors as a metaphor for disembodiment through the distortion and reflection of the picture. Through gesture and live action, I create experiences that function as material to subvert existing imagery within the space. The characters portrayed are both fictional and appropriated in order to invoke stereotypes that I use to seduce and intercept.
